Old Asphalt

Old asphalt being stripped off Newark Avenue so it new asphalt can be laid and spread.  If you go back into the archive you can find similar blog posts. I like to watch construction and haven’t done a new post on that imagery in a while. Since before Labor Day, work was being done on this street; some sort of new pipe had to be laid now they’re doing the re-pave. The top layer of asphalt has been removed for more than a block, an entire intersection too. No street traffic allowed, or parking, causing snarls and long detours. It might actually mean nearly 10 minutes to your drive, road rage potential is high. A new condo development is going up on the same street, probably some of the reason for the new pipes and this eventual re-pave. After this machine strips off the top soil of asphalt, the road is ridged, rough; gives the shock absorbers a real work out in the evening hours, after the workers go home and Newark Avenue is re-opened.
