Repaving 6th Street

"What are they doing,” I ask the cop.
“They’re repaving 6th Street,” he says.
“The whole street?”
“Yes, then they’re going to repave Christopher Columbus.”
"Do you mind if I take a picture," I say, pointing to the contraption with fire.
"Suit yourself. I guess it is something you don't see every day."
“You wouldn’t happen to know what that’s called?"
“It’s a furnace they use to melt the tar.”
“But what is it called?”
An odor of tar is apparent at least two blocks away. There were no construction workers nearby to ask.
“Dante’s Inferno.”
“What?”
“I don’t know what it’s called. But it’s a good caption for your photo.”
“Hey, get your own blog.”
Okay, I didn’t say that, but who knew J.C. cops could be so clever.
